  • Text expression to keep formatting but not characters.

I’m creating a template for end titles/credits and want to be able to link a text layer’s font type and size to the source text of a single control layer, but I don’t want to link any other formatting (alignment, etc.) or characters.

example: I have a layer with text that says “James” and another layer with text that says “John”, and a third layer with text that is the Font Control layer. I want to be able to change the font control layer’s font type to Arial and have the “James” layer and “John” layer become Ariel as a result, but retain their text characters “James” and “John”.

Anyone have an expression for this?

    Thanks!

I don’t think you can do that with an expression because the font is controlled via the Character palette, which I don’t believe is accessible to expressions. But there is a script that will change the font attributes on aescripts.com. I don’t remember the name of it but just search “text” or “font” and it should come up.

Thanks! I found it and it works for what I need.
