    Hi

I am wondering if anyone is willing to help me out with a text effect. I am totally new to AE so if you can help please do not make any assumptions that I know how to do something within AE because at this point Im pretty clueless on everything :-).

Anyway, what Id like to do is this. Image that you are on the ceiling looking down to the floor. Everything is black (meaning background is black)

Then from above you and through you the text falls towards the “invisible floor” (im guessing from zoom in to zoom out….the text is big when it passes through you and gets smaller as it fall towards the floor)

When it gets to about mid screen or so it “hits” the “floor” and dust sprays out giving the illusion that it did hit something on the black background

any volunteers would be greatly appreciated

This is almost the exact same effect I used in my Texture Packs promo video (the very first scene).

I used Trapcode Particular Plugin for the dust/smoke effect, although I’m sure a similar result could be achieved with CC Particle World (which comes with after effects). It requires scaling up and blurring out the particles (lots of particles), using the proper blending mode, and even applying a curves adjustment for a more realistic look. With the trapcode particular plugin, it makes it easy to tweak the velocity, air resistance, etc… When the title hits, the particles will have an extremely high velocity as they shoot out, but will run into a great deal of air resistance. It will take lots of tweaking to get it right. Good Luck.
