Ok fellow Vegasians, here is the challenge,

I have a project that I have to do for a high school assembly. It’s an awards ceremony, and they want certain students names recognized at different times, so what they would like is short music videos with names flashing in between some live drama. Each group of students is about 150~200 names. All I need is for the names to flash individual at a time. They can flash up quickly, but it needs to be one to two at a time. I have the lists in Word, and I know that I could cut and past it as one big block of text, and then key frame the placement of the text, but that just give it a scrolling text feel. Any body have a better way to have names flash or pop on screen while music is going in the background? Maybe even have something that would have the names hit on beat. I need some creative juices to flow!
    Help, help!

You could use the generated media credit roll, and use the option of a fade between headers instead of a roll.

try 4 video tracks each with text events.
1st track :enter several names, setup the color, deformation and the keyframe motion in the “pan, crop” tool.

IE: start really small in the distance, set the point.Go the the end of the event, make text so big that you are between the letter, set the next point.

Continue variations throughout the next 3 tracks but starting the event a little later in time than the previous one. Kind of overlapping “meteor fly by” effect.
Put the music on a track and enlarge it to see the beats on the waveform.
place the end of the events on the beats. (you get the point)

Copy and paste (Ctl+drag) any event further down the timeline and insert new names. The attributes will stay saving you time. You can also slightly modify the motion as you go then copy the appropriate one as you need them.

The direction of motion is up to you but the point is that you get lots of screen time per name by overlapping and they will randomly repeat several different patterns.
I’ve done this several times and it does move fairly quickly.

Parents love it cuz at some point their kids name will be BIG.
    Good luck
