I’m new to Pro (version 8), having used Platinum and Movie Studio the last few years. Perhaps the answer to the following is “use ProType Titler”, but I haven’t had a chance to really play around with it.

I would like to make some scrolling text, screen left to screen right over some video. I don’t want to use the scrolling text option because that doesn’t let me mix fonts in the same word (I can’t, for example have the 20 in 2010 be in Arial and the 10 be in Courier).

So my big problem is when I generate new media. I can add all I want in the text box and mix and match fonts, but unless I want to use really small font, whatever doesn’t fit on the screen when I go to pan/crop is cut out.

I would also like to have a screen full of text and be able to rotate and zoom into different words. I tried this with the regular title tool, but the fonts get fuzzy when you blow them up too much. Is the ProType Titler the answer with its scalable font tool?

    Many thanks!

Don’t use Pan/Crop to move the text. Keyframe the Placement in the text tool. Then you’ll see all of the text.

Yes, ProType scalable fonts will solve this problem for you. If you wanted to continue to use the Text tool you could create your text in 4K resolution (just change the dimensions to 4096×2304) and then you will have a lot more resolution to zoom into.

Thanks for the ideas John. I’ll put in some learning time on the ProType Titler tool.
