I am not able to make a text crawl in FCP that does not show severe interlacing when played on my external broadcast monitor. Sill text looks fine but whenever I put a move on it it gets all jagged. I have tried all sorts of things from slowing the text down, moving it’s vertical position up a pixel, changing the field dominance on the sequence, etc… and nothing seems to work.

Heres where it gets real funky. I have opened up an old FCP project that was created in FCP 6 in my new version of FCP 7. This old project has a sequence with a text crawl that looks beautiful (no interlacing) when played on an external monitor. When I copy this sequence, change a date within the text, and re render the timeline it looks all jagged again?

I have noticed this however Text crawls that look jagged in my FCP canvas window look smooth when played on my external monitor and reversely text that looks smooth on my FCP canvas window looks super jagged on my external monitor.

It doesn’t make sense to me that text crawls that I had previously made in FCP 6 that played beautifully now look like crap when I rerender them in FCP 7?

Don’t use FCP’s Text. Use Motion or Boris Title 3D.
