O kay I have a simple text phrase that I want to animate on the X axis. Fine I do that. Now I set one key frame. Then I move along to set another key frame. All going in the same direct. Now between the 2nd and 3rd keyframe the text moves backwards a little bit frst before proceeding. And I did not set a key frame to do that? Its weird I cannot get it just go forward. I dont have the text going a shorter distance in a longer time frame to act as it is slowing down. COuld this be the issue? Any ideas?

I think I see the problem that trailing dotted line seems to start over when I set new keyframes. I dont want it to do that. How can I stop it from doing that? I want it to be a fluid motion.

Set your Keyframes to linear or use Ease-in/ Ease-out. What you describe is normal interpolation behavior of Bezier keyframes.
