I am looking to make a dna strand with text forming the shape. What would be the best way to try this? -

Depends on the exact look you’re after. If you want the letters to actually deform, I would use a spline mask to bend them along a helix spline. If you just want to rotate the letters you could use a mograph text object and control rotation with a step effector.
