Hey there I have a 2 part question.
I am cutting together a trailer for a doc I am working on, and I need some Text inter-cards.
I have been having a hell of a time getting the letters to look crisp and sharp.

FCP’s text option is very limiting so I have tried AE and PS
so far the PS version looks the best and it even looks pretty damn good exported from FCP to a .mov
however when I go to condense the trailer the edges of the text get all aliased or “freaky” see images below….
I am using Sorenson Squeeze to compress for the web (which is what I need for right now…)

    Bad (compressed)

    Good (.mov exported from FCP)

    so here are the questions.

    1. is this the best way to be doing this.

    2. if so is there anyway when using Sorenson Squeeze that I can apply different setting for the text parts during compression then the video parts (as they seemingly need 2 things)

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks!

First off, the color red is notorious for “rough edges” when a video is compressed. Just search around on here for a detailed explanation as of why.

For a quick fix, try the h.264 web setting but with a higher bitrate (5000kbps or above). Also, post this over in the compression forum, too.
