hi pretty new to using text in after effects…I am using AE 5.5…I know its old…I made some text in photoshop and saved it as a photoshop file…the text is purple on a transparent background and then imported in after effects comp and layered the text over the image. The text has no movement and when I render and preview(plasma tv)
the text has lines flickering thru it…how can I deinterlace the text or what is the best way to create text in after effects because AE 5.5 does not have a text tool like the newer versions. How do others get text to be clear on movies and videos.
    thanks much
    chris

Hi dave thanks for responding…I have text over a still image both created in photoshop and imported into after effects…so how can I make text to be clear and not flicker in after effects….AE 5.5 does not have a text tool? is there a special save setting I should choose in photoshop.
    thanks

Listen to Dave. Dave is right; there is a text effect in AE. Not a tool, like in Photoshop or never versions of AE, but an effect you apply to a layer. Trust us – we’ve used the older versions – it’s there.

No; there is no special save thing you should do in Photoshop. There shouldn’t be any flickering on the text of any Photoshop file. Is the flicker in your final rendered output or are you seeing it when you do a RAM preview? If you’re doing it in a widescreen comp and seeing it in the RAM preview, try rendering it out. I’ll bet the flickering will be gone. It’s an artifact of non-square pixel aspect ratios in a RAM preview.
