Hey I’m trying to use a tutorial on reflections but it requires creating text. I have AE 5.5 and can’t find a simple text tool – i can’t add a text as an effect, it has to be solely text. The tutorial is using 7.0 though – is there something different between the two versions with text? Thanks a lot!

it has been a while since i used 5.5, but i think you will need to create text with the basic text effect in the effects window (or menu). i think it was 6 or 6.5 that introduced a text tool similar to photoshop/illustrator.

Yep, not text Toll back then, try Effect>Text then Basic Text, Numbers or Path Text. They’re not bad, really.
