  • Testing an AI review layer for short edits — looking for blunt feedback

    Hello all,

Long time editor/director/producer here, 20+ yrs. LA → FL

I’m testing a review tool I’ve been building for post-production that watches and listens to an edit and returns timestamped notes on pacing, clarity, continuity, emotional beats, performance and more. I call it RoughCut AI.

This is not an AI editor. It doesn’t generate video and it doesn’t edit for you. It watches your edit back and gives you notes like a producer would. Think “AI-powered frame.io”

Right now I’m looking to learn:

    • what it catches well
    • what it misses
    • whether the first run makes sense immediately
    • whether they’d use it again

If that sounds relevant to your workflow, feel free to reply here and I’ll drop in the link. I’m not selling anything or trying to spam anyone, I’m simply trying to get RCAI out there to see what other real pros think.

Our beta testers loved it. 100% of them said they’d use it again. I personally love it. In a time where AI threatens our industry at quite literally every angle, I think we’ve built something that works with us, not against us.

    Thanks ✌️

(the attached image is the actual current UI. Yes, that’s BTTF🫶)
