  • Test Previewing in Quicktime before sending to Encore

I have been experimenting with short clip exports (8min long) to see which looks better before sending them to Encore. I view with my Mac’s default Quicktime Player and currently I am previewing .mp4 and .mpeg comparison tests.

Can Quicktime be used as a good preview to help judge what I am doing before sending the work on or do I need something else to view by? I am using a 5k monitor but to me Quicktime has never been dazzling for anything.

I hope I don’t miss the best one due to the fact that Quicktime could not play back the file as well as it might have been created.

    Hi Ken,

Not sure what you mean by previewing before Encore. Are you editing in Premiere? If so, then the proper workflow is to export as MPEG-2 DVD format, using one of the available presets such as NTSC DV Widescreeen Progressive. This special flavor of MPEG-2 is the ONLY thing that can ever be on a Video DVD in the end – if you supply any other format to Encore, it will simply transcode to MPEG-2 anyway.

    Thanks
