I have an opportunity to submit a 28:46 minute video clip for local cable TV broadcasting.

To ensure my video program comply with the cable TV submission requirements, I submitted a test video clip that included a trailer of 60 seconds of ‘Bars and Tone (NTSC)’ I taken from FCP6/ EFFECTS/VIDEO GENERATOR/BARS and TONE/BARS and TONE (NTSC) for compliance testing.

I used Compressor to encode the clip (DVD:BEST QUAILTY 90 MINUTES/MPEG-2-6.2MBPS 2-PASS with audio 2.0 Dolby Digital at 192kbps).

I used DVD Studio Pro to burn the video clip.

I was told by the cable company that their video waveform analysis show my white being approximately 5% over the allowable limit. Is there a user preference or system setting to adjust the white color globally within FCP6, or must I color correct each clip? Was the way I processed the bars & tone test video for submission acceptable?

Your immediate consideration would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Sam

    Short and quick answer-
You can use the Broadcast Safe filter in Final Cut Pro to limit your colors for broadcast. It must be the final filter on your final output to keep all your colors within broadcast specifications.
