I am using the terrain shader and getting some nice look, but when i put it on a poly object, the object doesn’t get totally covered…its like broken up.

I have tried tagging Fit to Object, still it doesnt do a 100% wrap. Has anyone been successful in using the shader ? Also how can I combine it with some other material ?

    Thanks

the Terrain shader is a volume shader (or it needs a volume). If you put it on a cube it will give you a layer of terrain in between the bottom and top of the cube – the Height parameter determines how much. If it’s put on a poly plane it has no volume to fill and it starts to loose parts of itself after Height exceeds 50%

    Hi Brian,

I tried out the terrain shader, but its not wrapping around my poly objects. Is there any way to achieve this ? I am trying to get a landscape/ terrain look on my spheres.

    Thanks

the terrain shader doesn’t do that. You will likely want to be using the Landscape object in Spherical mode or use sub-poly displacement in a material.
