  Terminated normalled patch panel question

  Hello members of the pasture. What’s the advantage, if any, for Tri-level sync, HD SDI, and AES/EBU AES-ID3 (75 Ohms) signals when using a terminated normalled patch panel over a non-terminated normalled patch panel? I understand that normalled means the signal goes internally from top to bottom. I also understand that a terminated normalled means the bottom signal gets terminated when a patch is made. But for digital signals, I’m not sure if terminating the signal does anything for, say a digital HD video machine?
