Terminal problem
Got some great help from John about disabling certain items in my mac’s. Was able to do it in two of them but on my third Mac (pro laptop) after I enter the commands and it tells me to enter password, the password has a bulletpoint mark that is greyed out (like it is selected) and it won’t allow me to type password. I tried several times to no avail…and it’s confounding because I can type everything else into the terminal window!
Help please….

I’m not sure why the password prompt is not working on that Mac. One thing you can do is become the super user first and enter your password once and then all of the commands will run with super user ability.
So based on our previous discussion you would open a Terminal windows and type this:
sudo su -That will make you a super user and get prompted for your password once. Then the other commands will not prompt you because you will already be the super user. Then it will exit super user mode.
rm -fr /Applications/FaceTime.app
rm -fr /Applications/Messages.app
exitSee if that works.

When you type your password in terminal like that, it doesn’t display the typed characters or bullets or anything, for security reasons (so I can’t look over your shoulder and see how many characters your password has). Type your password like normal and it should work.

Good point. It didn’t occur to me that Andy was referring to the password not being displayed as he typed. Yea, you just need to type it and press enter and it should work even though you can’t see it.
