My boss is interested in buying a Teranex 2D at work. He said he’s mainly interested in it for down converting our HD commercials into SD.

I’ve been tasked with researching how we could integrate it into out workflow. We have a machine room and an iMac that serves as our Upload/Download station. Unfortunately the iMac doesn’t have a Thunderbolt port.

How limited would we be if we just used Ethernet?

How do I connect it to our Sans?

And lastly, what is the workflow for this thing? Does it have it’s own software? Where does it write the files to?

I know that’s alot to answer but the BMD website isn’t very helpful.
    Thanks!

    I rock.

The Teranex is a hardware appliance for working with video signals sending/recieving via a camera, vtr or video router. It does not operate on files. You either use it standalone to up/down/cross convert an incoming video signal from a camera/vtr and send it out in another format, or use it to capture / playback video to/from a camera/vtr to your computer via the thunderbolt connection, allowing you to change the format on the way in or out.
