    Hey Everyone,

I’ve been editing 35/mbs, xdcam HD footage on Vegas, and it works out fine; but there is one annoying thing.

When I click away from Vegas and work in another program, and then go back to Vegas, there is a lag before I can actually start editing.

All the footage has light gray “Media Offline” labels, and you can hear the drive reading for 5 to 20 sec (depending on how big of a project), before everything comes back, and you can edit.

Not a big thing, but annoying. It’s as if Vegas has to re-check to make sure everything is there.
Is there some setting I can change so this won’t happen?

    and some info.

    Windows XPs2
    Vegas 8b
    4 gigs ram
    XDcam 35/mbs HD (1440X1080)

    Thanks for any ideas.

In your preferences, uncheck the Media Files Offline when Vegas isn’t the active application.

And that sir is why you are the moderator.

Thanks for the heads up. I must admit that this is the second “feature” in a short period that has caught me by surprise.

I guess there is some situation where it is useful to have the media offline. Maybe if you are trying to edit a file that is also in Vegas? So the other program doesn’t think that the file is in use?

    Oh well, thanks again!
