Since I started editing video in Vegas I have noticed that the program generates lots of files the first time you import new files. Since moving up to HD there seems to be more than ever of these files.

Is it safe to just delete all of these MODD,SFK1,SFK0, files etc? Are they all regenerated when needed?

Is there some switch to stop them being generated at all when new files are imported & perhaps get them only if & when there they are needed?

    Thanks in advance

It’s safe to delete them, but Vegas will simply make them again the next time you start the project. They are small – just ignore them.

Here you can get some information about these files.
BTW, modd files are not created by Vegas – they contain the recorded date information of your clips (and other meta information), afaik.

As Stephen said they will be regenerated so you can safely delete them.

VASST Ultimate S Pro has a tool for deleting all of these pesky files recursively. It can just delete the orphan files for which the original media was deleted, or it can delete all of the files. I use this before I archive a project. It will recurse subdirectories so you can point it to the the folder above all of your video projects and it will clean them all with one click.

Modd Files are also not needed by Vegas.
