Television Switched on effect in after effects.
Hey, just wondering if anyone knows how to do this effect in after effects.
A TV being turned on, so you get the white fuzzy effect, when it switches on, and you see ‘almost’ a wipe in i guess it is, white dot.(from the centre to out), and also the effect of a tv switching off.

This is on my list for a video tutorial. Actually it’s TV off, but it would work the exact same way.
Mostly, i’d
precomp my video
scale it down to 0 on the x and maybe 5% on the Y, and then animate if first scale up to 100 on the X, then 100 on the y
Use the effects called tint to tint the entire thing white, then fade out the tint as it scales up
use a lens flare perfectly centered for the flash

digital heaven has a cool plugin that does TV on, off, static for FCP…not sure if they have one for AE though but worth checking out.
