I’m designing a workflow for a project that would be a multi-camera edit in FCP from a live event. I’m considering lots of different ways to speed up the process, but one was to encode all of the video on-site using a Telestream Pipeline Quad.

The price is too steep to purchase for one use. Anyone have any leads or where one of these could be rented?

Has anyone used the Pipeline in this manner before? (recording multiple channels in the field)

    Thanks,

    Chris

How about using cameras that support a direct-to-edit solid state workflow, like Panasonic P2 or Sony XDCAM EX? Or what about using Firestore drives on each camera?

For a lot of reasons, but foremost, if I have to rent four cameras and four DTE recorders, I’m not sure that I’ve found either a better or more cost-effective solution. We have four cameras to use for this project. And the Telestream box will have all of the video imported into editing system before the camera guys can even switch their cameras off.

I’m thinking: renting $10K of equipment will be cheaper than $50K or $100K.
