I thought this might come in handy for some folks. I needed a teleprompter for a lot of my projects and they are rather expensive so I got creative. I have a Sony GV HD700 that I use to play back my HD tapes so I don’t put wear and tear on the camera. It has an 8″ screen and is battery operated as well as using 110v. I cut and pasted my narration from a typed script into the titler on my Adobe CS3, made it sized to about 4″, put it in the crawl mode and then adjusted the speed/duration until it was comfortable to read. After rendering it and making sure the speed was correct, I then played it back as I was recording it on the GV HD700 unit. (export to tape) All I need to do now is put the unit on the stand so the screen is just below the camera and I stand about 8′ from the camera and is very easy to read. I use the remote control to rewind it when I make a mistake as I invariably do. I tried it for the first time tonight and really like the simplicity of it. Additionally, as the type is so small and in the crawl mode there is no noticable eye movement so it appears very natural. Hope someone can find this useful as I didn’t see it anywhere else and didn’t find anything on search-Gary

    Gary,

[Gary Bain] “All I need to do now is put the unit on the stand so the screen is just below the camera”

This works better if the display is just above the camera lens, not below it. Looking a little up rather than a little down is more attractive with most folk.
