OK Im sure everyone involved in TV POst will have tackled this one.
They “finish” or lock the edit, export an OMF and picture file for the dub, and you go away and spend 3 days working on it.

BUT then they decide on a few tweaks!
Infact they set about moving about 50 chunks around the timeline.
How do others get round this one?

Do you a) put your 3 days in the bin and start again
    b) attempt to get a list of meaningful timecode offsets from the editor and re conform ytour sequence to these numbers.

To the best of my knowlege, no software application addresses this problem correctly although manufacturers have been talking about it for years.

    Heres what I do

    BEFORE they move anything.
    1) Capture in 1 mute audio clip with timecode relating to the picture timeline.
    2) Lay this up on the timeline where 10 00 00 00 on the timeline is 10 00 00 00 on the mute clip.
    3) they go and make their offsets, and cut through all tracks laid up including the mute one, and re build the prog.
    4) When finished, get an edl of the mute track only.
    5) Set about the timeline in audio punching in the numbers and re creating the moves.

This is the best way I know. How do you do it. Is there an app that will take my edl and number crunch automatically?

    Cheers

    Peter
