Tearing on footage (1080p30)
Hello
Working in Final Cut Pro, project settings set at 1080p30 XDCAM EX, I’m getting ‘tearing’ on certain clips that I’m almost certain wasn’t there when I shot them. I’m linking an example:

Not sure if this is a corrupt file, settings incorrect, etc.
My timeline settings are set to 1080i 16:9 (frame); 29.97 frame rate, square pixels, no fields.

downloaded and tested on OS 10.6.1 in both QT X and QT 7.6.4. I don’t see any tearing. Might you be having a monitoring issue? Exactly how are you viewing the clip?

Interesting. I’m viewing it on a 37″ Westinghouse 1080p display through both Final Cut viewer as well as exporting and playing back as a quicktime file from the desktop.
So when you see the clip, you don’t see a horizontal line popping up about 1/3 the way from the top of the screen and displaying across the whole image?

Additionally, just downloaded on my PC and playing back and I’m seeing it here.
You can see a quick flash over two of the guys face at top of screen and over his shoulder (the guy with glasses on the ladder looking at camera).
It looks very reminiscent of taking an interlaced source and scaling it causing frames in part of the screen to be mismatched alignment wise.
I’d grab a screen shot of it, but when I go frame by frame, you can see it, but once I stop scrubbing, it disappears. They are very brief (split second) flashes showing partial image mismatch. Sometimes it’s 1/3 the way from the top, other times near the top of the screen. It also occurs when the camera is moving quite a bit in vertical movement.

I’m playing it full size on my 23″ Apple Cinema Display and I see no tearing.
I do see a white hot object with slight green boarder on the left which might “upset” certain monitors. The fact that you don’t see it frame by frame may indicate you have some monitor issue. Is your 37″ Westinghouse 720P or 1080p? I know some of the Westinghouses are 720p and 1080i, not 1080p. -
My monitor is 1080p, but I haven’t done full screen, I will try tonight and see if it goes away.
It was just weird as none of my other footage exhibits this behavior in FCP or QT.

Hi I’m experiencing the same problem but with XDCAM HD422 1080p25 footage.
The footage displays “tearing” in both FCP and Quicktime.
Has anyone managed to solve this yet?
