I’ve got a bit of a frustrating bump in the road.

I had recently done a shoot where our DP used an HVX 100 and the very cool hard drive that comes with it (not the P2 cards) to shoot some HD footage. Ingestion and working with it in FC (Studio 1) is perfect. I just have one minor nit. Is there no way to output TC window dub without a deck? I would love to output a TC dub to DVD, but there’s no way to make the original clips TC show up. When you’re talking about dozens of clips, with time of day time code, we’re talking major headache. My work-a-round, is to create a sequence for each “scene” or “interview,” drop all the clips in, place a Solid Color in V2, drop the TC generator on the Solid Color, then crop to where only the TC is visible. I know I could nest, but I don’t like to nest in this case, because I need to be able to access the clips very quickly, and I’d have to constantly open the nest in order to use the Match Frame.

I know this isn’t a big deal, but if anyone has any hints, please shout them out. Thanks!

    First off…HVX-200…not 100.

Second…string your clips out on the timeline, then apply the TIMECODE READER…not the TC Generator…to the clips, ALL THE CLIPs. That will display their source code. Don’t nest…you want the reader to get the source code of each clip. Then, if you have a capture card and DVD recorder, simply play out to the recorder and record…done in real time. If you don’t have a capture card, then export the sequence out as a QUICKTIME MOVIE, uncheck SELF CONTAINED (makes is a smaller REFERENCE movie) then take that into DVD SP to burn your dailies.
