Hi – I hope this is the appropriate forum. I am trying to restore a TAR formatted LTO5 tape containing camera master files and created by a third party using Tolis Tape Tools. I am using an HP ULtrium 6250 LTO6 tape drive connected to an iMac with an ATTO ExpressSAS H680 card. The TAR -b value of the tape is 300 and the restore command I am trying is:

    taperead -b 153600 | tar -xvb 300 -f-

I have changed the Terminal directory using the cd command to be an external hard drive.

When I run the command the toplevel folder restores but not the contents so Terminal reports:

    x WDMASTER001/
    x WDMASTER001/.AppleDouble
    x WDMASTER001/.AppleDouble/.Parent

And then returns to the cursor. In Finder the top level folder is visible but has no contents.

I am sure I am overlooking something obvious and hoping someone can tell me where I am going wrong!

    Many thanks in advance,

    DCJ
