    tapeless capture?

    Does Vegas5 allow drag-and-drop capturing from Firestore HD Recorder, and Sony SxS ExpressCard, and Panasonic P2 card?–Or, does 5 require full length run of footage? thanks

    Vegas 5 won’t allow for drag n’ drop from SxS or P2.
    Firestore with DV, yes. DR60 with DV, yes.
    Firestore w/HDV, no. DR60 with HDV, no.
    P2? Panasonic wouldn’t license their reader to Sony, so the DVCProHD content on the card must be converted using a tool like Raylight from DVFilm.
    SxS? Vegas 5 is old software, and isn’t set up to manage .mxf file formats. Upgrade to at least Vegas 7, but Vegas Pro8 is optimized.
    BTW, Vegas Pro 8 can support EX streams at a full 1920 x 1080 vs 1440 x 1080 that most apps need.
