Trying to capture in Final Cut 7.0.3 with a pretty old but reliable DSR-11 deck.

    Here are the specs:

    1. Device control: Firewire PAL
    2. Capture/Input: DV PAL 48 kHz
    3. The tape is Panasonic ME DVM60, shot PAL

Here’s the issue: When I rewind or forward, the log and capture window shows the timecode of the tape. But when I try playing, the timecode reverts back to 00:00:00:00. And obviously nothing plays in the window. No audio is registered either. It’s as if there’s nothing on the tape, even though there is supposed to be conference footage.

I’ve tried tapes from the past (both PAL and NTSC) and they seem to be playing fine, no problem.

Any ideas? Has anyone else run into this? Or might I be overlooking something obvious? Can anyone else corroborate the idea that there MIGHT NOT ACTUALLY be anything on this tape, even though someone at the conference pressed record?

    Thanks!

is there audio bouncing? Can you go direct to monitor to check the tape?
