    Hi all
I have just started to encounter this problem whilst attempting to capture 1080P25 footage from a Sony JH3 via my AJA Kona LHe. The capture works for a while and then FCP gives up, offering the message “Tape trouble. Check VTR. Do not attempt to eject tape or use transport without checking VTR first.”
The deck is fine however and is still playing away happily.
My search has found many references to users having the same problem, going back three years as far back as FCP 5, but no definitive solutions that have worked for me.
The only thing that seems to make a difference is if I capture the down convert SD output rather than the HDMI it seems to work ok.
I have swapped the deck for another one without success and have (however competently I don’t know as I have no experience of delving beneath the UI before) cut and pasted a bit of code into textedit called DisableAltETTPolling.txt and dropped into FCP system support/plugins.
Does anyone have a fix for this because I have 10 hours of rushes waiting to be captured and the clock is ticking…
    Thanks in advance

(10.5.8 running 7.01 on a 2.8 Intel Xeon Octo with 8GB RAM and a Kona LHe)

Thanks Shane I hadn’t thought of that. However I’ve just done it and unfortunately I’ve still got the same problem. I’ve really run out of ideas now. Any more suggestions???

Are you sure the footage is really 1080P25?

Is it possible that it is 24 or 23.98? On the downconvert (which you said worked) the deck might be converting it to 25.

You need the file from AJA as the one on Apple is slightly different.

I have emailed AJA support but it is Sunday (and I am in Europe and so will lose Monday waiting for them to open. Does anyone have a copy of the file AJA may be sending me that they could email to me? Thanks

My Sony HVR-1500 will capture standard def perfectly every time. Any HD material and it has all kinds of problems. Oddly enough, Premiere captures both HD & SD perfectly 100% of the time. See my previous posts here:
