I know there may be a better place to post this question, but I value the opinion of those who read this Vegas forum. I am recording 12 workshop/lectures today to sell CDs to those attending the convention. One of the workshops is in a small room (approx 30 feet x 30 feet). There will not be a sound system to get an audio feed from. My plans are to set up my Canon GL2 on a tripod and simply video the lecture, using the on-camera mic. My question is this, I plan on running the camera in LP mode so I can record for longer than one hour. I need to know how this will affect the audio track. I am not going to use the video portion, so I don’t care about the quality of video. I am concerned about audio drop-outs, etc. I will be using Vegas to edit the audio and make a master CD. Any thoughts? Thanks.

LP mode should be OK, as long as you will be playing back from the same camera. However, if I were buying an audio CD, I would expect the sound quality to be better than your setup will provide.

If your camcorder is your only recording device, at least set up a wireless mic or two.
