[Clayton Burkhart] “Does anyone have a map of how the WAVE is supposed to be layed out for Resolve?”

It is evolving, yes. I think we’re up to about 12 pages of ^v keypresses with 8.1.

For the F-keys… https://vanhurkman.com/wordpress/?p=485 is a good start, and lots of good insight from the man.

I had the MC-Color for Apple Color and it was pretty nice but I sold it to get the Wave so I could do a job on Resolve…

I think the wave is fairly well laid out for Resolve and I have a Novation launch Pad which has 64 keys which are mapped to the keyboard shortcuts. Someone else on the Cow Resolve board posted a link to his pre-programmed layouts for the LaunchPad.

I know other people use the Logitech G-13 for shortcuts.

The combination of either the Wave or MC-Color and an external keypad makes a very good, inexpensive way of running Resolve.

I have a few questions about these panels too:

    1. Which is “less trouble”, meaning which is more plug and play? Less crashing, less banging your head against the desk to get up and running and keep running?

    2. How do they compare in the dark? Is one better self illuminated than the other? The MC color seems to have a red light inside the track ball which would be nice I would think.

    3. Under control panel preferences in Resolve; is “Avid Artist Color” the same thing and MC Color?

    4. If in the future I decide to grade on a PC… will either or both of these panels work with the future PC based Resolve?

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

    1.
The MC/Artist Color is connected via network cable. This is not like USB plug & play, but if you once have adjusted the IP adress, you will never have to do it again. It works trouble free, you can power it on & off whenever you like. I wouldn’t care if it’s USB or Ethernet

    2.
The illumination of the Artist Color is fine, the function keys will glow orange when they are user defined and the shift keys are iluminated when active.

    3.
Euphonix MC Color is exactly the same hardware as Avid Artist Color & has the Firmware and uses the same software (EUCon)

Avid bought Euphonix after the MC-Color was rolled out a few years ago and renamed it Artist-Color…

The Avid does require a bit more setup and a it’s own free ethernet port, where the Tangent Wave is just USB.

The pro with the Avid is that if you run Avid MC-6 it now works as a color surface for the internal Avid color corrector.

Robert, how does Launchpad works in Resolve? Can you map keyboard shortcuts on it? So I could map on all the keyboard combinations and than print out transparent stickers an put on the functions? That would be very nice, to have like one button command for next shot, or previous node, new serial+PW etc… Is it that simple?

    Thanks for reply!

I wonder if you can tune down button color intensity when you use it in dark room ?

    For Chris Meagher…
I just noticed, you are working on a MacPro2,1 Is that correct? It’s not native 64 bit and I was wondering if you had any rendering issues or problems with the Quadro Card? Guessing not but had to ask.
