    Hi

I want to save my After Effects composition, to an alternate location, along with all the videos, graphics, and sounds, that are used on the compositions.

This in order to take those files and work on the composition on another computer. Like the project manager does in premier pro.

In my case, I have 800 videos, but I’m only using 5 or 6 for a particular FX shot. I just want to take those 6 vids, and the comp, and work on them on another computer for a the weekend.

Taking with me the 800 videos, is, of course not practical. And since the vids are HVX files (.MXF), which have the images on one file, and the sounds on another (on another directory), copying them by hand is a bit of a hazel.

    Hi Jose,

To do this simply select the compositions being used in the project panel, then go to File–>Collect Files. Choose “For Selected Comps.” Check “Reduce Project,” and only the files in use will be collected. Then choose “Collect,” and choose a location to save the copy project.

    Hope that helped!

    Thanks. That was very useful.

Now, which is the best way to get the work done at home back to my main workstation?

    Thanks.

Just open up the files on the machine at work.

You will be using the new files anyway, so you don’t need to do anything with the original ones.

You can import multiple projects into one project if you’re trying to keep everything together in the end…

    Thanks.

But what if I want the new project to use the original video files, so I don’t have duplicated video files? Is there a way to automatically re-link them?
