Taking footage outside from final cut and then back into it
Hello,
I would like to ask what is the correct method of taking footage from final cut (chroma footage for ex) of to After Effects, and then back to final cut.
Let’s say i’m working with clips that are apple pro res hq422. I import them to AE and work with them. The output file should be apple pro res hq422, or just an uncompressed file?
I understand that it’s possible to lose quality while recompressing a clip over and over again. While apple pro res hq422 will output small size files, when using uncompressed output the generated file is really big in comparison.
So which method is best? Is there another method better than these?

You can simply render out of AE to ProRes.
Any uncompressed clip brought into a ProRes FCP sequence will need to be rendered and end up being compressed to ProRes anyway, so you might as well avoid the need for FCP to render and simply make your exported AE shots ProRes Quicktimes.
