Taken over project from Windows Premiere Pro Editor / Intermittent clips ‘slipped’ on Mac
Hi,
I have a bizarre problem. I took over a project from an editor that I don’t know, met briefly for the handover of assets.
He gave me 2 project files, media, and a quicktime movie of what he had done so far.
He was on Windows, I am on a Mac Pro. Transferred over all files worked, all files reconnected. He’s using Premiere Pro CC, I’m using Premiere Pro CC as a result. I am normally on Avid.
It’s a doc with many formats – professional and consumer.
Project file 1:
‘certain’ clips in the timeline are ‘slipped’.
They are in the right spot in the timeline.
They are the correct ‘source clip’ but the footage is not correct.
Video and Audio are in Sync.
It’s 5 to 20 minutes off the correct clip.
Doesn’t seem to be one particular video track.
It might be all MXF’s. I’m not completely sure yet. Still finding more.Project file 2:
Same deal, but some of these (not all) are entire freeze frames.I have asked editor 1 to load up his file to see if his stuff looks right, and send it over to rule that out. Explained the situation. Have not heard from him.
I’m an Avid guy so any help (basic – have you done this / advanced) would be appreciated. This will take hours to fix if not.
Thank you for your help. If you need any other clarification of what’s going on let me know.
EDIT: Just tried Deleting the preview files and Cache DB and files, no help.
EDIT: I took an AAF file out of Premiere of the sequence, dumped it in avid, connected one clip that I knew was a problem in Premiere. It works fine in Avid. It comes in at the correct time code.
I’d love to move it over to Avid but I get a variety of errors when I do.
EDIT: Transcoding to Prores worked for one file. Please let there be a better way!
