On page 129 of the T2i Owner’s Manual it says that if you take still photos during movie shooting “the still photo will record the entire screen including the semi-transparent mask”

    That’s what I want.

The still image I get however does NOT show the semi-transparent mask with all the setting details as I want.

I’ve also tried taking a still while in movie mode but not yet actually filming which didn’t work either

Can you guess at what I might be doing wrong?

I think what means is it will include the area behind the transparent mask, that doesn’t get recorded in video mode, in the still frame.

    Hi Phil,

Well, that’s certainly what I am seeing. But I have run across lots of still images that show all the info being displayed on the screen along with the image itself, how are those done then?

Can’t help you there Steve. Unless some how they’re getting a frame grab from the video output.
