FCP 7.0.3 seems quite unstable when editing in multicam. Turning off the open sync helps but still crash often. I did all the usual, trashing all FCP preferences, rebuild permission. Any suggestions ??

Macpro 3.1, 2 x 2.8 Ghz, 12 GB ram, internal raid 0 yielding 450 MB/s read and write, FCP 7.0.3, OSX 10.6.4, Wacom intuos 4 with latest driver.

    I’m editing in XDCam HD422i60.

It’s the XDCAM codec. It’s pretty processor intensive for one stream. Add 3 more for a total of 4, and your computer is struggling. For multicam, it is best to convert the footage to ProRes 422

Thanks for the reply, this is going to broadcast and they want XDcam HD422 as delivery codec. Will i loose quality by doing the roundtrip twice ( Xdcam to Prorez to xdcam ) ??

What’s your suggestions for converting all the footage ? I was hired to do 13 episode, each containing roughly 150Gb worth of material. Wouldn’t it be more economical and faster to upgrade my Macpro to a recent model ???
