Sorry if this has been covered, but if I get a spanking new MBPRO with big internal SSD, is it less awful, perhaps even okay, to work it all in one box?

Yes, for now I’m talking FCP7. ProRes projects, simple edits with barely a few complexities.

Not to do that as a rule, but often I have hours on location when I need to be productive, and a bus-powered mini-raid hanging off my lap(top) has been too hinky.

Since I’m upgrading laptop I would max out the SSD if this advantage makes it worth it.

    Thoughts? Admonitions?

I’ve done it. It works fine. Nothing lengthy though…

You want, bigger, Crucial has a 960GB for $599.

That would be quite awesome!– though in a new MBPRO would void the Applecare.
