Tried the Synology support route on this and all I get is that its Apple’s fault.
When using the Finder in High Sierra (nMP) we tend to crash it when doing a search on the NAS server.
The crash isn’t too bad, more like a window one.
It doesn’t cripple the OS or computer at least.
But I have to figure this out or be forced to have our Mac network on a Windows 10 server 😛

So many questions… first, though, have you made any progress on this?

    1. Which model NAS?
    2. What version DSM?
    3. What services are running on the NAS?
    4. Which connection protocol are you using (afp, smb, etc.)?

    Thanks, Doug for your reply.
There was some movement to this but I haven’t had a chance to tackle it.
They sent me a 12-page reply and hoping to find time to read it.

    Model: RS2416+
    DSM: 6.1.5-15254 Update 1
    Services: AFP and SMB
Issues are on both AFP and SMB.

I will find time soon to read their suggestions.
