  • Syncing XDCAM Metadata?

Posted by Steve Murray on July 31, 2012 at 2:46 am

I shoot on an EX3 and post-shoot I often have the clips stored on both a portable drive and my main editing machine (MacPro). This is done so I can view and select clips in XDCAM Browser when out of the office on my laptop. However in the process the clip metadata (clip selection criteria – Good, NG etc & any added comments) gets updated on the portable drive, which is great for those clips, but useless when I go back to the same clips on the main editing machine.

Does anyone know if there is a utility or similar that will sync/update the metadata between two groups of clips?

BTW, this isn’t a problem if you only have one or two clips as you can manually copy the updated XML file from one clip folder to it’s counterpart on the other drive. However this isn’t practical when you have hundreds of clips!

I look forward to your comments…

    Cheers,
