    Hey, I’ll be shooting with a DSLR and using either another camera or an external sound recorder for sound. Just wanna check if it’s possible to dump the video clip from DSLR and sound clip from sound recorder into compressor and compress them into one a/v clip while retaining the different sound channels for editing later on.

    No I dont believe this is possible. You would need timecode to even think about doing this and even then I do not think Compressor has this capability. Try PluralEyes ($99) software. Does an excellent job of syncing your audio and video tracks. But be sure to record audio on camera with a cheap mic or even the on camera mic so PE has something to sync to, or you will be hosed.
