Syncing using aatoncode (or arricode)
Hello,
I have to edit a feature film project on a FCP. Sound guys will be recording on a HD system, and they will be using Aatoncode to be able to autosync everything in FCP. Now, I’ve done this workflow on an Avid numerous times and it works really well and troublefree. I’m not able to replicate this workflow on FCP, so any help appreciated.
My workflow while testing this: for each reel I import the FLX or ATN loglists (created in the Telecine) into FCP. I can then Batch Digitize the footage reel per reel. Sound TC information is in the Sound TC column. Next step is to import the BWF sound files. For these files, the sound TC (time of day) is in the Media Start column. Now I need to autosync video and audio. And this is where I’m stuck. What I would do in Avid is to copy the Media Start Timecode in the sound files to the Sound TC column. Since it’s possible to copy whole columns, it’s really easy. Afterwards, I select all video and all audiofiles, hit Autosync and presto, a number of new subclips, synced with the Sound TC.
In FCP, I’m able to manually copy the information shot per shot, but that really takes too much time. Afterwards, merge clips also only works with individual clips (video + corresponding audio), not with a batch of clips.
I’m sure there ‘s a way of automating this process, otherwise an assistant would have a **** of a job on FCP. Any thoughts would gratly be appreciated…
