    Cow gurus,

I’m trying to sync film dailies in FCP. Is there a way to get the TC from a DAT tape to read in FCP? I input that tape either as a file from a DVD-R or direct from a TC DAT in linear form. Doe Soundtack handle this timecode info?

Thanks for any suggestions. Joe Huggins, Atlanta

If you have a TC capable DAT player with deck control and you have a capture card, I believe you should be able to capure the audio with timecode. Then you can use that timecode to sync picture and sound by going to Modify>Merge Clips

If the Dat has RS-422 deck control, you can get the timecode information through this serial communication. You need a Keyspan USA-28X (usb to mini-din 8 serial adapter) and a cable (Addenda Electronics has one, SC-M/9ms $17) https://www.addenda-elect.com/product.htm
