I got a TV show shot with two cameras in free run time code mode. I put them on Vegas 11 Pro timeline (separate tracks) and I can’t sync them using Tools/Multicam/Lay Out Tracks Using Media Timecode”. The option is unavailable. Why?

The video files are MXF. I import them along with XML files.

I use https://www.singularsoftware.com/pluraleyes.html for sync multi-camera editing and it works pretty well.

You can try it for free.

    Frank,

but I am using external time code generator for syncing cameras which works far better than Plural Eyes.

Grzegorz, I did something similar a few years ago (music video shot single cam but with a reference time code at all times) and never could get this feature to work either.

Can you see timecodes in the Project Media window (details view)? If not, then perhaps Vegas doesn’t support them.

OK got it! Here is the solution that works.

The clips have to be imported to project media bin first and each camera must have it’s tape name. Syncing cameras like this is amazingly effective.
