Syncing Audio and Video with Different Frame Rates
Posted by Dustin Parsons on December 29, 2007 at 5:42 pmI have audio recorded at 24FPS and footage shot at 59.94. Is there a way to sync these without having to conform the footage to 24FPS?

December 30, 2007 at 1:21 amAudio doesn’t really have a fps. It could have been recorded with 24 frame timecode as an addressing scheme, but it is recorded at a certain sample rate, and that determines the timing.
How about a little more information about the video format and the sound recording format?

Audio is in .wav format, 16 Bit Integer, Stereo, 48KHz

December 30, 2007 at 5:34 amI have synced video from HVX with audio recorded separately, and I didn’t have a problem.
I had slates, so I marked the slate in the audio, brought it into a timeline set for HVX format (should have 16 bit 48kHz audio). Then bring in the video and match them up. Link them and drag them to the browser, and you should have a merge clip that works fine.

December 30, 2007 at 4:45 pmThe timeline’s settings are:
Video – 720p at 23.98
Audio – 16 Bit at 48kHzDragging the footage in the timeline and syncing would probably work for most of the 59.94 clips except I’ve run into a problem with some of them using that method. See this thread https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/8/968562 for more info.
I’m going to use the DVCPRO Frame Rate Converter to make every 59.94 clip 23.98 just to keep organized.
Thanks for your comment!
