how easy and what’s the workflow for syncing b roll when shooting double-system. I’ve seen crews shooting double-system when the sound guy is recording, while the camera is shooting b roll. How does it get synced if the camera is recording multiple files and the audio is recording one long clip.

    Hi Sergio,

In the old days, even now, a slate is used at the beginning of the take. That clap (now time stamped depending on the slate) is how editors marked the beginning of a segment.

Using an HD enabled DSLR, this can be accomplished by hand synching the audio frames and actions to the recorded sound.

Different NLEs offer online tutorials of how to move timeline audio manually or, have a synch capability built in that matches up audio signals.

Audio like a human fingerprint, has a distinct wave form signature and is never the same twice, so clips are analized then lined up.

Plural Eyes (Red Giant software) is a plug in with a pretty robust tool set which can synch disparate sound sources for not a lot of money.
