we just completed a small shoot using two cameras:

    canon xlh1
    panasonic hvx200

unfortunately, the settings for the cameras were different. the canon was set at 720 x 480 (29.97 fps) and the panasonic was set at 1280 x 1080 (29.97 fps).

we are preparing to edit. the canon material has been imported in its native format. the panasonic P2 material has been captured but not yet imorted into fcp.

the question i have is, is the best solution to import the P2 material into fcp at 720 x 480? and if so, what would the most time-effective way be to go about this? on the other hand, is it ridiculous to even consider converting the canon 720 x 480 material to 1280 x 1080?

    thanks for your help.

I think I’d import it all in it’s native format if you don’t have a capture card. Then set your sequence setting to match the P2 and edit the HDV material in that same sequence. They no longer have to be the same format.
