The advice in this forum is often to edit audio in the viewer window, rather than try and see the waveforms through the annoying clip nanes in the timeline (too many tracks to expand as some do). Good advice – however how do you cope with the new open/gang options. With open selected I loose the audio clip everytime I reach a video cut-away – and this pops unwanted into the viewer. Selecting gang sometimes puts the timeline out of sync with the viewer – forcing me to open each audio clip on the first frame to be sure I have sync, which is a faff.

PS exporting to Soundtrack Pro – surely something wrong here….. I get stereo clips appearing (camera audio 1 and 2) in Soundtrack instead of the mono clips (eg camera audio 2) I had selected in FCP, and then get asked to render 40 minute audio files to make a non-destructive edit on a four second clip…..

Anyway back to work – these needles apart, quite pleased with FCP 5 so far…. looking forward to my Mackie Control Surface arriving!

    Ken.
