Sync multiple clips with single audio file?
Hello, anyone know if it’s possible to sync multiple video clips with a single audio track automatically in FCPX? I recorded my entire session as an audio file on a Zoom. During this period I shot multiple video clips (single camera), but paused in between the clips. Now I would like to add the audio track to the time line, and then attach the video clips synced with the audio track. Then it’s easier to cut or add b-roll where I have no video available. Possible?

Yes it is. In the info panel to set the angle metadata of the individual video clips to be the same. E.g.make the audio angle 1 and all the video clips angle 2. Sync by audio or timecode as appropriate and fcpx will take care of the rest.

Hey… If I’m understanding (audio full record/video intermittent with matching audio), what has worked for me in the past was to just grab all the tracks and make a multicam clip using the audio as sync.
You wind up with a MC clip that has video sync’d to where it matches and black (with audio) where nothing was shot. Then, put the MC angle in the timeline and “switch” the camera to whatever is active at the right time.

To follow up, be sure to make your audio track the source no matter which video source is chosen.
