Sync Issues with FireWire video output
Hey all. Working on a concert video in SVP 10, and find that, as I jump around and make edits, the video & audio will often be out of sync when I resume playback. It seems I have to place the cursor after the point I’ve just edited and play for a bit, then it eventually comes back in sync. As far as I know, the drift is only apparent on my external monitor, which is fed via a Canopus 110 and S-Video connection, and not in the on-screen editing window. Not likely a speed issue, as my system is a core i7 and is pretty screaming fast. Is this normal, or is there some buffer or similar tweak I’ve failed to make to keep that FW signal caught up?

Seems that issue is deriving from your Canopus device only…

True, not a major concern since it doesn’t affect rendering. Still, it’s obviously disconcerting to my clients when playback after an edit is so frequently out of sync. Also interesting that the problem is only with Vegas, and none of my other software.

Only with Vegas? you didnt mention that.
Then have you tried going into preferences
and under Preview Device, and made any adjustment
with the Sync Offset or something? if not try, and see if

Sync offset is at 12 (2 frames more than I needed with Vegas 8, btw). Sync is good most of the time and doesn’t drift. It just seems to get temporarily lost when I’m doing a lot of editing. Could be that I need to finally start looking into upgrading to a 64-bit OS to really get the best real-time performance.

Okay. Anywhere else I might look to see where this bottleneck might lie?
