Sync Issue (Urgent)
Hey all, got a real problem down here. I’m working on a short fiction film, and something’s gone screwy as hell with my workflow. Long and the short of it–after my audio came back from the Mixer, it no longer syncs with the original image…in ANY sequence, either the new color corrected sequence or the original “picture lock” sequence. Here’s what’s happened.
First off, we shot 1080p at 30p.
1. I received the audio, attempted to sync it up with the footage. Despite my best attempts, it would not sync completely. If it synced in the beginning, the audio lagged towards the end. If it synced in the end, it would not sync in the beginning! (Did not test if it lagged or was in advance). At first thought it had to do with something we did in Protools, have since 100% ruled that factor out.
2. After trying in multiple timelines, I desperately went to DVD studio pro with the Quicktime file I gave to my sound mixer, and the afi file I had now. To my surprise, they sycned up in DVD studio pro! The quicktime made 3 weeks ago and my audio worked together. (This is also my backup plan for going forward with this project.)
3. After more tests, including taking that quicktime back into final cut pro, I have concluded something’s changed accidentally in the general settings. Every sequence has the exact same sync problem, regardless of other visual modifications. The problem is, I don’t know what to look for to get my sequences back up to speed in Final Cut Pro. If anyone has any advice, I’d sincerely appreciate it..
